Crisis24 Provides Strategic Response in Times of Civil Unrest in Nepal
6 Nov 2025

Situational Analysis
In September 2025, Nepal experienced widespread civil unrest following government restrictions on social media. Protestors, spearheaded by a digitally organized, youth-led 'Gen Z' movement, targeted government buildings and officials with the intention of setting fire to federal facilities. Additionally, a group of armed protesters patrolled the streets and closed access to Kathmandu Airport to keep local leaders from fleeing. In response to the unrest, the military then imposed strict curfews, limiting movement to essential needs only. Amid this volatile environment, Crisis24 received 11 client requests for assistance, including evacuations, welfare checks, and security advice.
Crisis24 in Action
Utilizing our robust global security assistance and response capabilities, Crisis24 deployed expert teams, well-versed in managing high-risk scenarios, to ensure the safety of the clients; our seasoned experts provided strategic, on-the-ground support, while delivering proactive, customized solutions to help clients navigate the volatile environment.
Activating a Critical Event Protocol
Among the multiple client requests received during the Nepal unrest, one case required immediate coordination and strategic planning to ensure the safety of personnel on the ground. A team of eight people working out of Kathmandu were concerned about their safety and whether they would be able to evacuate, considering the surrounding unrest. They then called Crisis24’s Global Operations Center (GOC) for assistance. After determining they were not in immediate danger, the GOC agreed that departing the country was recommended due to the volatile nature of the unfolding situation and initiated protocols to repatriate the individuals.
The team began by conducting a comprehensive risk assessment, evaluating the proximity of the clients to areas of unrest, the status of transportation infrastructure, conditions at the airport, and the likelihood of further escalation. Based on this analysis, a tailored evacuation plan was developed. As soon as limited flight operations resumed, Crisis24 executed a phased evacuation, performing four strategic moves over a two-day period to ensure travelers were safely transported, avoiding protest activity and curfew restrictions. The clients then successfully boarded their outbound flights, returning home.
Strategic Support During a Crisis
In another case, our GOC received an urgent call from a client that one of their staff was trapped in the Kathmandu airport; the traveler had gone to the airport to depart Nepal, when their flight was canceled and armed protesters formed a border outside of the airport. Establishing and maintaining consistent contact with the traveler, Crisis24 presented the client with various options for assistance, including on-the-ground support. The client ultimately chose to make his own way, staying in contact with our security team for regular updates and intelligence on the situation. The team continued to monitor the client until he was able to repatriate himself without harm.
