Designing and Implementing a Best-Practice Insider Threat Management Program in Africa
Situational Analysis
A major extractives client was experiencing recurring losses linked to insider-enabled fraud, corruption, product theft, and suspected collusion with external actors. While multiple control functions were in place – including HR, procurement, security, and cyber – risk signals remained fragmented across systems and teams.
This lack of integration limited the organization’s ability to identify patterns early or respond consistently. The complexity of the operating environment, combined with local criminal pressures and a large contractor and vendor ecosystem, further increased exposure. Recognizing that reactive investigations alone were insufficient, the client engaged Crisis24 to design a coordinated, intelligence-led Insider Threat Management Program (ITMP).
