Chris Clough

Chris Clough joined Crisis and Security Consulting (CSC) in early 2026 as the Senior Consultant – Maritime. He had previously spent over three years in Crisis24’s Global Intelligence division, as a senior geopolitical analyst in the Europe and Russia team. Before Crisis24, Chris had a full career in the UK Royal Navy and a period as an independent consultant. His last government role was as Head of the Maritime division in the UK’s Defence Intelligence, where he led the analysis of threats to the UK's global maritime interests, including to the continuous at-sea deterrent and underwater critical national infrastructure. His previous naval roles included leading departments at sea in frigates and the UK’s aircraft carrier, in defence acquisition, intelligence, and in capability planning. He has two Masters degrees, in Systems Engineering and in Defence Studies, has contributed to UK and French think-tank strategic assessments, and is a member of France’s Institut des Hautes Etudes de la Défense Nationale.
