The Defense Travel Management Office Extends Contract for Commercial Travel Information Management Database Support
19 Jun 2024

The Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) serves as the single focal point for commercial travel within the United States Department of Defense (DoD). DTMO maintains central oversight for travel programs, travel policy and implementation, travel card program management, customer support and training, and functional oversight of the Defense Travel System (DTS). The organization embarked on a major initiative to transform the Defense Travel Enterprise. This effort is designed to improve delivery of travel services, maximize policy understanding and compliance, improve cost-effectiveness across the Defense Travel Enterprise, and provide a positive customer experience.
For over 16 years Crisis24 has been DTMO’s partner of choice helping deliver on its mission of supporting nearly three million employees of the DoD. Crisis24 developed and manages DTMO’s Commercial Travel Information Management database (CTIM) - an operational database of travel data aggregated from a variety of sources and serving as the “single source of truth” for an individual’s travel.
Continuous value-add services including the development of several programs – including an Integrated Lodging Program, Premium Travel Class Program and a Compliance Tool Program designed and built by Crisis24 – have enabled four contract renewals with this client. These programs have contributed to efficiency improvement and substantial cost savings. To date, the Compliance Tool program has recovered nearly $60M in improper travel charges.
Crisis24’s integrated platform of services delivers the ability to protect employees and other assets around the world and better monitor, protect, and respond to travel security needs, as well as control overall operating risks. Crisis24 has the most advanced capability in the market to monitor global threats, advise clients on how those threats impact employees, facilities, and supply chains, and cost-effectively support emergency and crisis response. Crisis24’s proactive risk management system integrates traveler itineraries, expatriate assignments, physical assets, destination intelligence, alerts, threat analysis, medical assistance, and security assistance. This risk management system seamlessly interfaces with the Government’s eTravel initiatives. More specifically, the platform links directly to source itinerary information providing automated itinerary tracking. We enable clients to design a travel risk solution that fits with their existing emergency and crisis management plans, culture and budget.
The ROI is immediate, freeing up resources, reducing the frequency of incidents (through threat awareness and mitigation), and lowering costs and operational disruptions. As important, we provide a capability that can be easily implemented across diverse business units or geographic boundaries, giving clients effective control and compliance consistent with best practices. For DoD clients, our services help meet requirements for force protection.
Crisis24 was successfully awarded a 4th option year in which Crisis24 will continue to help DTMO recognize its strategic objectives of leveraging technical efficiencies across systems and cost savings, while continuing to ensure the travel safety and wellbeing of the more than three million military and civilian personnel in its charge.
